On Saturday we met Andi, Anne and Dean at Notting Hill Gate at 9.00am. It was great to see them. We wandered down amongst the millions of market stalls, selling everything from antiques to tatty old second hand jumpers! We had a lovely few hours wandering around, picking things up and putting them down again.
It was very busy, the streets were packed and we had a lovely time just strolling about. At about the half way mark we stopped at a lovely cafe so that Andi, Dean and Anne could have some brekkie (we'd already had ours). We then walked back down admiring the huge variety of things people were selling.
When we got back up to the High Street we spotted a very cute pizza shop which was making excellent use of a couple of old Fiat Bambinos.
Andi, GG and I then walked back to our hotel in Bayswater. It was a lovely walk. The weather was good and we passed many delicious little patisseries.
On the way back I went to the O2 shop and got my phone sorted out. I now have an English SIM card, an English number, 250 phone call minutes and 1000 texts - all for the princely sum of £10.00. Hooray!!!
On Sunday GG and I spent the morning back in Kensington Gardens. The weather was glorious. We wandered around talking to numerous dogs, water birds and squirrels. It was lovely.
We even saw a little dog fall into the Italian pond and have to be rescued by its owner, his partner and a passerby! The owner nearly went in himself and ended up covered in weed and slime. The little dog was promptly put back on his lead.
We left the gardens to travel to Baker Street Tube Station to meet Caroline, Rory, Callum and Ella. They were running a bit late as they got caught on a Hop On, Hop Off bus. We finally met up and then we travelled to Northwood Hills Station, which is close to Anthony and Terry's house (Dean's brother and sister).
Hayley, Dean's other sister, picked us up from the station and drove us to the house (2 trips, of course). The weather was just beautiful, warm and sunny, and the BBQ was enormous fun.
Callum got on like a house on fire with Jaylen, Hayley's son. He is nearly 11 but as tall as Callum. They played cricket and soaked in the hot tub. Ella had a lovely time playing with a little dog, Nina, she was the cutest, most playful little dog. We finally left at about 8.00 and got back to the hotel at 9.00. Tomorrow we're on our way to bonny Scotland.
