North to Dundee

We left Edinburgh at 8.30 and headed north. We crossed the bridge over the Firth of Forth and arrived in the very quaint and beautiful village of Falkland. This is where they have filmed the television program 'Outlander' apparently.

We then travelled on to St Andrews. The home of golf......and an ancient abbey and cathedral. It was lovely. There was aN ecumenical service being held at the cathedral. The Bishop of Scotland was there with many other religious dignitaries. There was a choir singing and musical performances. There were heaps of people. It was all rather moving.

There were also some very nice dogs.

We had lunch at the St Andrews Golf Museum, looking out over the links. It was most pleasant.

Then we went for a walk down to the beach. The weather was glorious, sunny and warm. A real Scottish summer day - 20 degrees!

We set off for Glamis Castle after lunch. This was the home of the Queen Mum. It is a very pretty castle with turrets and pretty little windows. We did the tour - 'No Photography in the Castle' and learnt all about the life of the incredibly rich and titled!

We even met a very nice dog. It's school holidays here so they are setting up entertainment for the children everywhere. That's why the merry go round was there.

At 4.30 we headed into Dundee to the hotel where we are staying the night. It's on the waterfront. A very ugly 1960's hotel, but right on the water. There was an old lighthouse boat moored below our windows.

The room was very comfortable and quite spacious. There ends another busy day with GG sending an email to Damien. Who'd a thunk it!
